Spotlight on the Carteret Community Theatre Performers for Winter Hauntings
By Autumn Ware
As we prepare for this year’s Winter Hauntings: An Evening of Ghost Stories, we’d like to shine a spotlight on the talented actors from Carteret Community Theatre who will be bringing these spine-tingling tales to life.
These performers, who also wowed audiences at last year’s sold-out event, are the heart of what makes Winter Hauntings such a special experience.
This year, Kennedy Brooks will deliver a special performance inspired by one of Carteret County’s most famous departed residents. We won’t reveal who that is just yet—you’ll have to join us on January 29th to find out. But we promise it’s a story worth waiting for!

Here’s a look at the incredible cast lending their voices and talents to this year’s event:
- Dr. Matt Brooks: A former professional actor and director, Matt now serves the community as a Primary Care Physician. Of all his roles, he considers husband to Beka and father of four amazing kids his most rewarding.
- Kim Murdoch: A devoted mother of three and community theater actress, Kim is thrilled to perform for an audience again. Her most recent dramatic performance? A retelling of The Giving Tree for her kids when they forgot to put their dirty dishes in the dishwasher.
- Alex Russell: The dynamic owner of Slice Bakery, local real estate agent, and community theater star, Alex brings a dash of drama and a pinch of paranormal flair to every ghost story he tells.
- Kennedy Brooks: Kennedy is no stranger to the stage, having appeared in numerous Carteret Community Theatre productions. When she’s not acting, she can be found baking, dancing, or excelling as a stellar student nearing middle school.
We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Carteret Community Theatre for providing the venue and support that makes this event possible. A special shout-out goes to Rebekah Brooks, the theater’s business manager, whose enthusiasm and coordination have been instrumental in bringing Winter Hauntings to life.
As a reminder, Winter Hauntings is an evening of ghost stories featuring original tales from local authors performed by these talented actors. Proceeds from the event will go to the theater’s Ovation Campaign, supporting its efforts to restore and enhance its historic venue.
Get your tickets before they sell out for this celebration of local talent, storytelling, and the resilience of our arts community.
