Ever thought about writing down your life story? On Thursday, June 26, 2025, the Waccamaw Library will host a free writing workshop on how to write a memoir. The workshop will be taught by North Carolina writer Emily Dunlap Carter, the author of A Spork in the Road: Reflections on the Journey, which shares the stories that shaped her: growing up in the rural South, raising two sassy children, building a life with her husband (award-winning musician John), and finding her voice as a writer. With warmth, humor, and the kind of wisdom that sticks to your ribs, Carter’s memoir is a love letter to family, resilience, and the joy of a well-told tale. Carter’s writing talents cross genres, from memoir and creative nonfiction, to prose poetry, to country songs. The workshop is free and open to the public. However, space is limited. Please register in advance.
