Episode 4
Catissa Head
Leader, Advocate, Change Maker

We’re wrapping up 2023 with a lively discussion about transformative empathy.
Join me as I chat with Catissa Head, Executive Director of Coastal Community Action, an organization that serves the most vulnerable members of our eastern North Carolina community. Catissa credits her mom with teaching her compassion and shares how she reciprocates that loving care. Then, we explore the challenges faced by impoverished people in Carteret County and how organizations like CCA and local volunteers offer our most resource-strapped neighbors critical opportunities to improve their circumstances.
CCA Administrative Office Thanksgiving Potluck
Join me at CCA HQ, where I was warmly welcomed by Catissa and her staff to share in their annual Thanksgiving potluck lunch. Catissa took the time to introduce me to every person in the office that day, and it was a full house, encouraging each team member to explain in the simplest terms how they help people in the community. I can’t imagine a better place to sit and talk about the transformative power of empathy in epic communities.
This project is supported by the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, with administration by the Craven Arts Council & Gallery.
